The Australian Charter of Healthcare Rights (second edition) from the Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care, was launched on 8 August 2019.

The Charter empowers people to have the Right to healthcare (whether it be in primary health, hospitals, aged care facilities, public, private or not for profit) that is patient centred, accessible, safe, where they are treated with respect and dignity, where their care is a partnership between the consumer and the clinicians.

The Charter provides people with entitlement to clear, accessible and truthful health information, it also provides understanding for privacy as well encouraging people to provide feedback and not feel the threat that future healthcare will be effected.
