COVID-19 Vaccination – FAQs
Ballan District Health & Care welcomes the Australian Government’s rollout of the COVID-19 Vaccination Program for all aged care residents and team members.
We are closely following the Australian Department of Health’s direct health advice, and as part of our commitment to the Ballan community, we will continue to provide you with information to engage positively with the program and feel informed and supported.
COVID-19 Vaccination – voluntary and free for all in aged care
As per the Department of Health’s guidance, all COVID-19 vaccines in Australia are voluntary and free, including for residents and team members in aged care.
The vaccine is a significant public health initiative to help reduce the virus’s health risks on all older Australians and our team members. We must remember that every person who chooses to receive the vaccine helps to protect others’ health in our community.
Who will get the vaccinations and how will it be rolled out?
The Department of Health is managing the rollout of its vaccination program according to priority suburbs, towns and groups. Prioritisation is being made based on levels of potential exposure to ensure that the rollout is as fair and equitable as possible.
