Ballan Community Childcare Centre is a 50 place, community owned and operated, not for profit, long day care centre.
The Centre is owned and operated by Ballan District Health & Care (BDH&C) who are committed to providing the community with a quality childcare service that promotes the health and wellbeing of the children and their families attending the service. We encourage and welcome parent involvement in the program as we believe that your input can assist us in better meeting community expectations and often seek parent input into programs, policy development and other aspects of the management of the Centre. We believe that your participation helps to promote mutual respect and understanding between families and educators. Ballan Childcare offers an “Open Door Policy” which encourages parents to come in at any time to spend time with their children and share their skills and expertise with all children.
As an ongoing benefit of being owned and operated by Ballan District Health and Care, we are privileged to have access to a variety of health professionals to support and enhance the children’s development. A lot of these health professionals deliver services that are integrated into our curriculum and have become part of our regular program, such as our ‘healthy lifestyle program’ which is run on a weekly basis using a range of health providers from BDH&C. All families of the Centre have access to individualised 1:1 health services through BDH&C and most of these services are provided free for families (or incur a very small surcharge)
Types of Childcare Offered
Ballan Community Child Centre offers a variety of child care options. These include:
- Long Day Care – either full time or part time permanent
Occasional Care- currently available for a maximum of 15 days per school term. This is charged at a higher rate than permanent care and dependent on availability.
We also work in conjunction with families to enable them to participate in the four year old funded sessional kindergarten hours at the Ballan Kindergarten next door to the Childcare Centre.
The children are grouped according to their age and skill level as this allows the Centre to better cater for the developmental and social needs of the children. Our ratios are currently based on those recommended by the National Education and Care Services Regulations 2010.
