Our Memory Support Unit is specifically devoted to the care of individuals with Alzheimer’s and other related dementia disorders. This unit provides a caring, personalised, yet structured environment for high care patients, accommodating up to 10 residents which is staffed 24 hours a day.
Each care room is equipped with quality curtains, a spacious wardrobe, electric hospital style bed, side unit, comfortable lounge chair and a visitors chair. Large common areas and dining rooms are furnished with suitable dining chairs, tables and televisions.
Nurses work closely with a team of committed care workers who pay close attention to those in the Memory Support Unit, to identify medical problems that the patient may be unable to communicate. In particular, the staff look for signs of weight problems, dehydration and medication side effects that occur more frequently in this population.
The staff within our Memory Support Unit are completely committed to the principles of ‘Person Centred Care’.
Admissions or transfers into the Unit are dependent upon an Aged Care Assessment or an updated assessment of individual needs undertaken by Ballan District Health & Care staff members.
For more information about how you or your loved one can be assessed please contact the Aged Care Manager on (03) 5368 1100.
