Hospital and Acute Care is the provision of medical treatments and procedures for a short term illness or health problem. Over 350 Acute Care patients are treated in our hospital each year and we are able to provide an extensive range of services.
The ward is staffed at all times by Registered Nurses (Division 1 and 2). Some nursing staff members have additional specialist training to help meet specific Acute Care needs.
Our General Practitioners (GPs) have admitting and visiting rights and attend the hospital to treat patients at multiple times during the day. Our GPs also provide a service to hospital patients after hours and on weekends via an on-call roster.
Ballan District Health & Care’s hospital has some capacity to care for public patients, in additional to caring for private patients.
While in hospital you will have access to over 20 allied health services (e.g. physiotherapy, podiatry, dietician) and our allied health professionals can visit you during your stay. You also have the option of continuing to use our allied health services after discharge through our Centre for Community Health.
